Our Rating
The build quality of this compact and easy-to-transport controller is good; the faders and knobs have a pleasing resistance, and the whole unit is light.
The buttons light up with a soft glow making it easy to find your way around the controls in dim club lighting.
Setup is simple; once hooked up to your Mac over USB, connect up the DJ Console to the amplifier over standard phono connections, then load up your digital music collection into the bundled, high-end Traktor DJ Studio. This software is superb; the classic dual source with crossfade layout is simple to adapt to, and even though it's a little biased towards repetitive, looped music, its power and flexibility are at odds with the budget nature of the hardware.
It's easy to find your way around, but if you're used to performing with vinyl or CD, it could take you some time to adapt to its system.
For a mobile DJ with a Mac looking to upgrade from a traditional system, this is a good entry-level unit.
