The PocketPower from Gear4 (formerly PodGear) is a simple back-up battery and charger for USB devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players and the like.

It also has a white LED that works as a weak torch. It's the size of a bar of soap, and a cover slides open to reveal four removable AAA batteries, which are included.

It's the USB port that makes this gadget special. It supplies power to devices that charge or run from USB. Gear4 says a full charge can add eight hours' playback time, but you could buy extra batteries if needed. Perfect for travellers.
