Apple lines up Quanta for video iPod supplies - DigiTimes
Posted on 23 Mar 2006 at 12:39
Apple has turned to the Taiwanese company Quanta Computer for supplies of the video iPod, reports DigiTimes. It states Quanta will become a contract maker for Apple.
Volume shipments will begin next month, according to industry sources, originally cited in the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).
Quanta has declined to comment on the report, however.
It joins other companies from the island-bound Republic of China, such as Inventec, Foxconn and Asustek, as iPod suppliers. According to Digitimes, Invetec was originally the sole contract manufacturer for Apple's video iPods, with Foxconn assembling iPod Nanos and Asustek responsible for the iPod Shuffle.
