UK games chart: Elder Scrolls hold off Marlon Brando
Posted on 29 Mar 2006 at 12:32
It's all change in this weeks ELSPA UK games chart. EA's FIFA Street 2 (PSP, PS2, XB and DS) is knocked from the top of the charts, down to four, and there are two new entries in the top three.
Straight in at one is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC Xbox 360), 2K Games's fantasy role playing game, involving noble warriors and wizened sorcerers. Just below it is The Godfather (PC, PS2, Xb, PSP, X360), EA's movie spin-off featuring Don Vito Corleone and set in 1950s New York, charting the rise of a mobster.
What's also notable about this game is that Marlon Brando granted his likeness rights to EA before he died, and provided some voiceovers for the developers. It is, technically, his last performance...
To complete the top three, Sony's quiz game Buzz! The BIG Quiz (PS2), moves up one, from the fourth spot.
Last week's new entry Driver: Parallel Lines (PS2) - Atari's Hollywood-style action driving game - climbs one spot to seventh. But 24: The Game (PS2) the TV series-spin off from Sony, falls in its second week down from five to eight.
Getting format specific, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion newly tops the PC and Xbox 360 pile, The Godfather is the new number one for both the PS2 and Xbox.
Here is the all-format Top 10 in full (number of weeks in chart in brackets), for the week ending 25 March (full-price games):
1 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (1)
2 The Godfather (1)
3 Buzz! The BIG Quiz (2)
