Apple's silence over MacBook Pro problems draws fire
Posted on 4 May 2006 at 11:11
MacBook Pro owners are planning a mass protest against apparent heat and noise problems with Apple's new Intel-powered laptop.
A post on the OSX86 Project forums is calling on everyone who has suffered the problem to telephone Apple Support on 20 May.
'If thousands of affected MBP owners call on the same day on the same topic, Apple will be forced to address the issue (not to mention the press such an effort will get!),' writes forum administrator Mashugly.
'This is our best way to hold Apple accountable and it's our duty to make sure they know we won't tolerate hacks and unsupported fixes to fix an issue that shouldn't be there,' he says. 'This is nothing malicious and we do it with the most admirable of reasons - telling Apple we love their characteristically high quality and want to ensure it remains. Besides, we pay for the ability to call technical support when have an issue.'
The problems have been discussed on Apple's Discussion Boards without any response from the company.
Not all MacBook Pro owners have experienced the problem, which as you might expect seems to vary depending on the tasks that the machine is performing.
