UK games chart: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 looms larger
Posted on 16 May 2006 at 12:41
FIFA is still sitting pretty with its franchise football game at the top of this week's ELSPA games chart. FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 is published by EA Sports and is available for the PC, PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360.
Also locked in position at number two is the multi-format Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend (PC, PS2, PSP, Xb, Xb360), with the top three completed by Eidos' Championship Manager 2006 (PC, PS2, Xbox, PSP), which moves up from number ten to number three.
Indeed the football theme is clear - not only is EA's FIFA Street hanging around at number 8 (PSP, PS2, DS, Xbox) and Sega's Football Manager (PC, PSP, Xbox 360) at number 13, but Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (PC, Xbox and PSP) at 15. And there's still three weeks to go until the World Cup really kicks off.
The only new entries this week are in the lower reaches of the charts - Nintendo's Pokemon Link! (DS) is in at number 14 and THQ's worm-based action, Worms: Open Warfare, is in at 18.
Getting format specific, Guild Wars: Factions is still top of the PC chart and FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 is number one for the PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360.
Without more ado, here is the all-format Top 10 in full (number of weeks in chart in brackets), for the week ending 13 May (full-price games):
1 FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 (3)
2 Tomb Raider: Legend (6)
3 Championship Manager 2006 (7)
4 The Godfather (8)
5 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Adv Warfighter (10)
6 Animal Crossing: Wild World (7)
7 The Sims 2 (58)
8 FIFA Street 2 (11)
9 Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (7)
10 Metroid Prime: Hunters (2)
