Sams Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Unleashed review
This book covers C# topics in an odd order, dealing with loops, if statements, arrays and other data structures before moving on to the fundamentals of object-oriented programming.
It then dives into the details of threads, data access and other practical topics.
Author Kevin Hoffman's approach works only occasionally. Most of his examples are too long to be understood quickly and fail to make a point. He provides lists of object methods and properties, which offer little more than the specifications in the documentation. Often he introduces ideas and fails to explain what they mean or how to use them. Once in a while he presents a clear, logical view of a small part of the technology. As a result, the book is suitable only for wannabe advanced C# programmers.
