Apple launches aircraft-optimised MacBook power charger
Posted on 25 Oct 2006 at 11:30
Apple has introduced an aircraft version of its MagSafe power adapter for MacBooks, Pro or otherwise.
The adapter fits the EmPower and 20mm DC power ports available on many commercial aircraft. The magnetic plug both guarantees a tight connection and enables a clean break from the power port if there is undue tension. This prevents the MacBook from being pulled off a tray table if the cord is accidentally yanked.
Apple notes that the adapter will not charge the laptop battery and is not compatible with car power supplies.
The Apple MagSafe Airline Power Adapter is available from the Apple Store for £39.
