iTunes movie sales swell Disney's coffers
Posted on 10 Nov 2006 at 07:36
Disney revealed yesterday that it has sold almost half a million films through Apple's iTunes Store in the two months since launch.
That equates to $4 million in revenue, keeping the studio on course to reach the $50 million in additional income that it predicted after reaping $1 million in the first week of online movie sales.
The company announced plans to expand its iTunes offerings, adding both the year's best-selling title, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - and the best-selling animated feature - Cars.
Its ongoing success will doubtless increase the pressure on other studios to open or, in the case of Fox conclude, negotiations with Apple.
