From the Labs: nVidia GeForce 9800GTX+

This latest card from nVidia is very similar to the 9800GTX, which was only officially released in April of this year. However its GPU is made using a new 55nm process, resulting in a chip that is both cooler and smaller. Because of this, the card can run faster without overheating, and it costs less to produce too.

The GPU runs at 738MHz, which is around the same speed as many overclocked 9800GTX models. It's memory, however, runs at the same 1.1GHz as a standard 9800GTX. The faster GPU made the 9800GTX+ quicker than standard 9800GTX cards - with 29.7fps in Crysis at 1,440x900 with 4x anti-aliasing - but it's an increase of only a couple of frames per second.

A Leadtek version of the card is available for pre-order from www.overclockers.co.uk , for £129 inc VAT - a little more expensive than a Radeon HD 4850. In addition, the HD 4850 only takes up one slot in your PC, and only requires one power connector, rather than the two slots and two connectors required for the 9800GTX+.
