Our Rating
The Radeon HD 4670 is ATI's latest mid-range card. Its superior specifications suggest that it should outperform the GeForce 9600 GSO (left) but our benchmarks yielded mixed results.
Crysis initially ran better than we expected, managing 16fps at a resolution of 1,680x1,050. This figure rose to 32.6fps when we lowered the resolution to a more manageable 1,024x768, reduced detail to the medium setting and used 2x anti-aliasing, but this puts it just behind the GSO in terms of playable settings. Call of Duty 4 was playable at 1,680x1,050, and it produced a smooth 38fps at 1,440x900. It's a decent result, but it's not quite as quick as the 9600 GSO.
The 4670 is small and quiet, and can output audio over HDMI, making it suitable for a media centre PC. It's around the same price as the 9600 GSO, though, so it's only worth buying if you really need a smaller, quieter card.
