Our Rating
Like the Leadtek A7800GS and the Inno3D 7800GS, this card uses an Nvidia 7800 GS chip. XFX's version has been heavily overclocked, making it the most powerful AGP card here.
The 7800 GS Extreme Edition's core runs 65MHz faster than a normal 7800 GS, and its DDR3 memory is overclocked by 50MHz. This makes it the fastest AGP card in the group in all our benchmarks. Doom 3 and Chaos Theory ran smoothly at 50.6fps and 42fps. Its 3DMark05 score of 4,634 is higher than some of the mid-range PCI Express cards. It ran our standard Call of Duty 2 test at 26fps, and at 30.6fps it was the only AGP card to produce a playable frame rate at 1,280x1,024 without anti-aliasing.
This is the fastest AGP graphics card, but you could buy a new PCI Express motherboard and a good graphics card to go with it for the same money. Unless you absolutely have to stick with AGP, it's not good value.
