Philips Fidelio E2 speakers, Bluetooth Foldies headphones bring the noise

Philips has revealed the Fidelio E2, a new pair of wireless stereo speakers, along with the Bluetooth Foldies headphones at CES

Philips revealed a lot more than Android-powered TVs at CES this year – it also announced an expanded range of audio products, including additions to the high-end Fidelio range and Foldies, a new pair of Bluetooth headphones.

First up, the Fidelio E2: like the larger Fidelio E5, the E2 is a set of pillar speakers designed to give your TV, PC, or games console an audio boost with an HDMI input and optical/coaxial connections. Built-in aptX Bluetooth and NFC also make it easy to pair a smartphone or tablet for wireless playback.

Finished in charcoal grey cloth, with natural wooden top panels, they look every bit the premium speakers – even if they lack the removable satellites of the Fidelio E5. Each speaker contains a soft-dome tweeter and 4in woofer with bass reflex to deliver 100 watts of sound power.

The Fidelio E2 will be launching in the UK in the coming months, with an RRP of £299.

Philips Foldies Bluetooth

The Foldie fashion headphones, meanwhile, use 40mm neodymium drivers and are apparently inspired by “vintage road bikes”. They too include integrated Bluetooth, meaning wire free listening, although it wasn’t clear whether they use aptX or regular A2DP. A collapsible headband and sound isolation technology could make them the ideal commuting companion – we personally can’t wait to take a look.

They will be going on sale in April, in a choice of white and black colours. With an RRP of around £99, they should be a more affordable alternative to the excellent Fidelio M1BT Bluetooth headphones we reviewed late last year.
