Our Rating
Sennheiser's HD 465 headphones have a long, thick cable and a 3.5mm stereo jack plug with a screw thread and a ¼in jack adaptor.
The plastic headband and adjustors feel well made and hold securely at whatever size you set them to. Not everyone will find the large foam ear pads comfortable, but they evenly distribute the pressure of the tight fit. The headphones have a 3m cable, which plugs into the left earpiece.
The bass was unusually powerful at flat EQ settings. This gave even well-balanced rock songs a heavy undertone, which detracted from guitars and vocals and was an irritating intrusion in light pop music. We liked the thundering impact it had on our drum and bass tracks, though, and the headphones gave us a clear, balanced sound once we'd turned down our bass equaliser.
It's a shame they don't produce more balanced sound, but as long as your audio player gives you control over your bass settings then these headphones are a good buy.
