Yamaha launches BDX-610 home theatre kit

Yamaha's home theatre division has announced its latest one-box solution, the BDX-610, which includes a full-featured AV receiver with in-built Blu-ray player and a 5.1-channel speaker setup.
The Yamaha BDX-610, designed for those who don't have the room for a separate AV receiver and amplifier, doesn't scrimp on specs: despite its slim size, the unit packs 500W of amplification power with 80W for each primary channel and 100W to power the included subwoofer.
Numerous formats are supported as standard, with the receiver capable of decoding audio in Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master AUdio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution formats.
For iOS device owners, the BDX-610 includes the ability to connect and iPad, iPod or iPhone via USB to stream audio as a digital PCM signal - preventing distortion, noise or interference that can occur when using the headphone output to connect the devices to an analogue amplifier.
The Blu-ray portion of the one-box setup includes support for 3D footage - when connected to a 3D TV, naturally - with HDMI output and audio return, network connectivity and Digital Living Network Alliance - DLNA - 1.5 certification for media streaming from other devices in the home.
The full pack is expected to hit shop shelves towards the end of the month, priced at around £450. Yamaha has also indicated plans to sell the AV receiver and Blu-ray combination unit separately, but has yet to confirm UK pricing.
