Samsung announces HT-C6930W 3D home theatre system

Samsung has announced what it describes as "the world's first 3D home theatre" system, the HT-C6930W.
Designed to offer both 3D visuals and 3D audio in a single package, the HT-C6930W comprises a 7.1 channel speaker system driven by the company's Crystal Amp Pro technology - capable of providing up to 1330W of power - and includes a set of vertical speakers which the company claims "provides perfect vertical sound for 3D which conventional systems cannot provide."
The home theatre unit itself comes equipped with WiFi connectivity and Samsung's DLNA-compliant AllShare home networking technology, allowing it to play back content held on home PCs or even compatible smartphones. The WiFi connection can also be used to connect the system to the Internet, at which point the Internet@TV technology takes over and allows streaming of news, weather, stock, YouTube videos, and even - the firm claims - films free of charge.
The HT-C6930W includes Samsung's own automatic sound field optimisation technology, which claims to analyse the distance between the speakers and the listener and the acoustic signature of the room in order to provide the most immersive 3D sound stage possible.
As is to be expected from a 3D system, the HT-C6930W supports the new HDMI 1.4 standard and plays back Blu-ray discs - both 3D and the traditional 2D versions.
The HT-C6930W is expected to launch in the US shortly for $899.99 (around £720), but so far there's no mention of a UK release date.
