Pioneer launches new Elite AV receivers

Pioneer has announced a new range of home cinema receivers to be added to its Elite line-up - and the specifications are certainly impressive.
The six new devices - which include two 'budget' models, the VSX-30 and VSX-31 - are all certified to work with iPhone, iPods, and iPod touches, but Pioneer's use of the devices goes beyond acting as a simple dock. The company has released an iPhone app called iControlAV, which allows you to fully control the settings of the Elite AV receiver using the iPhone's touchscreen.
As well as the iPhone compatibility, an optional Bluetooth adapter is available which turns the Pioneer Elites into full A2DP-compatible wireless music receivers for all Bluetooth-equipped smartphones.
All six Elite receivers also support HDMI version 1.4a, which is required for future compatibility with the 3D Blu-ray standard. The PureCinema video processing system is also built in, and which Pioneer claims "converts lower resolution analog and digital sources from interlaced to progressive-scan images with noise reduction and chroma separation" for enhanced quality from your older, standard definition devices.
All these features come at a cost of course: while UK pricing hasn't been announced, the 'budget' VSX-30 is expected to retail for $550 (around £367), while the flagship SC-37 will set you back $2,200 (around £1,467).
