Acer launches Revo View media player in Europe

Acer has announced the imminent availability of its Revo View media player in Europe, in an attempt to steal a march on the up-coming launch of GoogleTV.
Designed for playing back video, music, and photographs either over a network connection or stored locally on its internal hard drive, the Acer Revo View doesn't offer quite the same interactive functionality as Google's planned TV product - but if you're looking to stream media, it's a neat box.
Packed into the 220x205x48mm casing is support for composite, component, and HDMI video outputs suitable for both high-definition and older TVs, along with the integrated 10/100Mbit/s network port for connection both to a home network and to the Internet.
The Revo View also features a pair of USB ports for connection to external storage devices such as USB hard drives or flash memory pens, from which it can read and stream media files without the need for a PC. Likewise, an integrated multi-card reader makes it simple to start a slideshow from your digital camera.
While wired networking comes as standard, wireless is an optional extra - and Acer has yet to confirm how much the addition of a wireless card will cost on the standard unit.
While UK pricing has yet to be announced, Acer has confirmed that pricing for the Euro zone will start at €149 (around £127) for the base 320GB model, rising to €250 (around £213) for the top-end 2TB edition.
