Seesaw video streaming service launches with BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5 shows

Seesaw, a new video streaming service, has been launched allowing viewers to catch up with their favourite BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5 TV shows.
Seesaw allows viewers to watch TV programmes from the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5 through their web browser. It requires a broadband connection and the Adobe Flash browser plug-in. The catalog consists mainly of older shows and previous episodes of current shows, rather than the very latest episodes, so it complements rather than competes with services such as iPlayer. The service is funded by advertising, so there are 60-seconds ads before, after and during the programming.
Shows on Seesaw aren't currently available in high definition. The service plans to charge a small fee for some programmes, which would be ad-free. Seesaw doesn't currently have any US programming, but is in negotiations with the American TV networks. There are also plans to make Seesaw available via set-top boxes, but it's unknown whether Seesaw is involved with Project Canvas – an initiative to develop an internet-connected set-top box for streaming video involving all the major British broadcasters as well as BT and TalkTalk.
