ITV HD gets proper channel on Freesat and Sky
Posted on 7 Apr 2010 at 10:42
ITV HD has finally had a full and proper launch on both Freesat and Sky TV, with its own dedicated channel.
While Freesat viewers already had access to ITV HD content, it was only accessible by pressing the red button when prompted. The new dedicated channel makes it easier to view programmes and record them using a PVR, such as the Humax Foxsat-HDR.
The same deal goes for Sky, where ITV HD now appears as its own dedicated channel in the Planner. It's good news for World Cup fans, as it will make it easier to watch all of the games in HD.
ITV HD will also be available on Freeview HD devices, although the rollout of this service won't be complete for a couple of years. Currently 4.5m homes have access to it, although we've only seen two devices capable of receiving the broadcasts so far: the Humax HD-Fox T2 set-top box and the Panasonic Viera TX-P46G20B 46in TV.
