Logitech to launch first Google TV box

Google TV is scheduled for launch in the UK next year, according to Swiss PC-peripheral manufacturer Logitech. The company, talking to The Enquirer, announced it will be the first to release a Google TV compatible set top box.
Details of Google TV were released last week. it's essentially a way of watching online content (such as YouTube) on your TV. The clever part looks to be the interface, with easy integration of Google's search technology letting you quickly find whatever you want to watch.
Logitech's Google TV Companion Box looks pretty sleek. Specifications should include an Intel CE4100 Atom-based processor running at 1.2GHz, 4GB of onboard storage, 802.11n Wi-Fi, HDMI output, Dolby 5.1 surround sound and two USB ports.
The service will also be built into upcoming Sony TVs. After years of half-hearted online services from various TV manufacturers, and the not very successful Apple TV, we're very excited to see a big software company like Google take on the challenge of bringing online media content to your living room TV.
Fans of Google's Android-based mobile phones, will also be excited to hear that such handsets will be able to control upcoming Google TV products. See here for more details on Google TV.
