The Scorpio Blue range of laptop hard disks has a focus on capacity, leaving the Scorpio Black to cater for those who need high performance, but this 500GB model provides unbeatable capacity and performance.
This is because the data is packed more densely on to the disk's platters than lower-capacity models, giving a boost to performance that's just as significant as the Scorpio Black 320GB's faster spin speed.
This disk produced the fastest read speeds we've ever seen from a 2½in disk, and it even beat one of the 3½in disks in the small-files read test. Write speeds were a sliver behind the Scorpio Black 320GB, but way ahead of the rest of the 2½in disks.
With superb performance, a huge capacity, a slim 9.5mm case that will fit in any laptop and a competitive price, it's a clear Best Buy.
