Posted on 14 Jan 2010 at 00:00
There are lots of anti-virus applications out there, but they're not all equal. Choosing the right one can be difficult, but we're here to help. Last week we reviewed the free anti-virus applications. This week we're doing the same for the commercial programs.
To test them we've used our unique attack tests. Expert Reviews is the only site to use live viruses in its attack tests, making our results the most accurate you can find. Please read our full test methodology to find out exactly how we test.
The tested applications
BitDefender Internet Security 2010
ESET Smart Security 4 Home Edition
Kaspersky Lab Internet Security 2010
McAfee Internet Security 2009
PC Tools SpywareDoctor with AntiVirus 2010
Symantec Norton Internet Security 2010
Trend Micro Internet Security 2010
See page 2 for benchmark results.
Anti-Virus Results
Trend AV and Spam products are amongst the best, it is well known amongst the top companies and gov departments with certain large IT companies using it in house. It may not be the cheapest package but when you consider it is licensed for 3 machines and its remediation levels then it has to be good.
