Choose your Cherry with new Corsair K70 keyboards

Corsair gives gamers their choice of Cherry switches with its latest K70 keyboard range

Corsair has introduced three new K70 keyboard models at Computex, giving gamers a choice between Cherry mechanical key switches for the first time.

It’s widely considered that Cherry MX Red switches are the best around for gaming, as they have incredible response and a lightweight action – however, not everyone likes to use them for typing, and Cherry’s other switches make less noise too. Corsair is now giving its customers the choice between Cherry Red MX, Cherry Blue and Cherry Brown switches with the K70, which is an upgrade for the existing K60.

With a complete set of mechanical keys, an aluminium chassis available in three different finishes and full LED backlighting, the K70 supports 20-key rollover to prevent any delays from pressing multiple keys at once. Multimedia shortcut keys and a volume wheel should come in handy, as will the detachable wrist rest. The new range is due to launch in the coming months, although we have yet to learn UK pricing.

For those on a budget, the smaller K65 loses the backlighting, as well as the numerical keypad, in order to go on sale for £65 – that makes it one of the cheapest mechanical keyboards around. It includes a removable cable to make it easier to transport, as Corsair envisions it becoming a LAN party favourite.

Also launched at Computex were two gaming mice, Raptor M30 and Raptor M40 – both fall unde Corsair’s new Raptor Gaming sub brand, after the former acquired the latter last year. Each mouse uses an optical sensor, rather than a lazer, to keep costs low, and supports on-the-fly adjustable sensitivity.

The M40 should look familiar to anyone that’s used a Corsair mouse before – it’s based on the more expensive Vengeance M60, albeit without the metal base. It retains the adjustable weight system, and gains an illuminated Corsair logo.

The entry-level M30, meanwhile, uses the original Raptor gaming design, with an illuminated scroll wheel and Corsair logo, along with multiple buttons – but no adjustable weights.

Both mice will be on sale by July, although UK pricing has again yet to be confirmed.
