Eclipse announces Litetouch touchscreen keyboard

If you fancy the idea of the Asus Eee Keyboard, but don't fancy replacing your entire PC in order to use it, perhaps you should check out the latest wireless device from Eclipse: the Litetouch Keyboard.

The Eclipse Wireless Litetouch takes the keyboard-and-display concept developed by Asus and turns it into a simple wireless keyboard for your existing PC, rather than an entire PC in its own right.

Replacing the traditional numeric keyboard on the right-hand side of the keyboard with a touch-sensitive display, the Litetouch is switchable between three modes: a traditional numberpad layout, a special 'media' mode for controlling playback of your audio and video files, and a completely custom mode that allows you to design a layout yourself using the included software.

The inclusion of the media mode - plus the fact that the Litetouch comes with an in-built trackball-style mouse, making it an all-in-one peripheral - along with its wireless nature suggests that Eclipse sees the Litetouch as being the perfect companion to media centre PCs, allowing full control from the sofa.

The clever display technology comes at a dual price, however: the in-built lithium-ion battery only manages twenty hours of use between charges, and the Litetouch will be launching at an eye-watering £129.99 'soon' - although no firm date has yet been set. More information is available on the official website.
