Mesh Discovery-G2 review
Verdict:
Bombastic looks and beefy performance are matched by a hefty price tag.

The first thing you'll notice about the Discovery-G2 is its over-designed case, made by Asus.
There's a gimmicky LCD display just above the keyboard which can display the time, or not so useful things like tiny black and white pictures. The red lights along the screen's edge are similarly stylish, but just as pointless.
Despite its unnecessary adornments, the Mesh feels really solid and both the keyboard and trackpad are pleasant to use. The 17in 1440 x 900 display provides superb image quality. DVDs and games looked fantastic, thanks to the screen's high contrast and super bright whites.
Any PC that scores 144% in our application benchmarks is fast, but the Mesh's performance is distinctly average given its high price. The ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 graphics chip proved to be surprisingly sluggish in our gaming test, with it earning just 44% less than some of the cheaper laptops test here.
The Discovery-G2 is a sturdy, powerful laptop with a fantastic screen, but despite extras like a built-in TV tuner and video capture device, itfs priced way out of contention.
