Asus is set to launch is new Eee PC, featuring Intel's new Atom processor. The notebook manufacturer claims the new Eee PCT 901, 1000 and 1000 (H) models come with a shock proof Solid State Drive (SSD) design and Super Hybrid Engine technology, which provides battery life of up to seven and a half hours.
Intel's Atom is a 45-nanometer processor made for small-form-factor computers, part of a new family of low-power processors. The notebooks will integrate 8.9in to 10in display and will be available on both Linux and Windows platforms. Asus also claims the new laptops come integrated with a keyboard that is 92 per cent the size of generic notebooks, making it more comfortable to type.
"With constant innovations and implementation of the latest technologies in the new Eee PCT range, we have since expanded the original 3 'E's into 'Easy', 'Excellent' and 'Exciting'. 'Easy' will still encompass the core value of Easy to learn, work and play, 'Excellent' will highlight the Eee PC'sT role as an excellent mobile internet device and 'Exciting' entails utilising the Eee PCT for exciting multimedia enjoyment." said Jerry Shen, CEO of ASUS.
The notebook's Super Hybrid Engine technology features three GUI modes to easily adjust CPU frequency, voltage, and LCD brightness to minimise system noise, which Asus says will save up to 15 per cent power consumption. The new models also incorporate a built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam, and use Infusion technology in its design to resist scratches and scrapes, so that the chassis does not fade with time.
