Apple moves to black OS X netbook video
Posted on 15 Jan 2009 at 09:56
Apple has taken offence to a video explaining how to install OS X on a netbook, specifically the MSI Wind which nominally runs Windows XP.
The company’s lawyers have raised Apple’s concerns with Wired.com, which published both the video and accompanying instructions by Brian Chen. While Wired’s news editor Leander Kahney said that the complaint is still being evaluated, the video has disappeared (though the walkthrough remains and the internet being what it is, it doesn’t take long to track down a copy of the video).
Initially Chen reported that Apple had sued Wired, though he later retracted, saying that he had misunderstood the situation. In all likelihood, though it hasn’t been confirmed, Apple has sent a cease-and-desist letter demanding the removal of the content.
Apple does not comment on legal actions.
