“Wrapping up” delays MacBook Pro
Posted on 5 Feb 2009 at 14:27
Early customers of the 17in MacBook Pro are reporting that Apple has delayed shipment of the new unibody laptop.
In a message sent to those customers, Apple said that, “Wrapping up the new 17in MacBook Pro is taking a few days longer than we projected.”
No specific reason was given.
The Macs will now ship from 19 February. New orders will take a little longer, with Apple quoting delivery times of three to four weeks.
The 17in MacBook Pro is built using Apple’s new unibody system, which carves the lower body of the machine out of a single piece of aluminium to reduce weight while maintaining a robust structure. It also sports the company’s new integrated battery, boasting eight-hours of use on a single charge and a much longer lifespan.
The £1,949 price also buys a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive and Nvidia GeForce 9400M and 9600M GT graphics with 512MB powering the 17in widescreen LED-backlit 1920 x 1200 display.
