Apple: “A PC is no bargain”
Posted on 17 Apr 2009 at 10:51
Apple is not known for responding to the public utterances of others, but clearly Microsoft’s latest advertising campaign proved too much for the company’s normally tight-lipped PR team.
Microsoft has so far broadcast two in a series of ads featuring “real people” choosing a new laptop. In the first Lauren chose an HP notebook, confessing that she is not cool enough to have a Mac, then Giampaolo, to no-one’s surprise, picked an HP notebook. (You could be forgiven for thinking that, in the absence of any mention of Windows, these are ads for HP.)
Both made their choices because the HPs were cheaper than a Mac, but Apple spokesman Bill Evans is unimpressed and unconcerned.
“A PC is no bargain when it doesn’t do what you want,” he said. “The one thing that both Apple and Microsoft can agree on is that everyone thinks the Mac is cool; with its great designs and advanced software, nothing matches it at any price.”
