Medion £499 laptop has impressive specs

Medion today unveiled its latest Akoya laptop, the P6620, which has an impressive specification given its £499 price. It will be available exclusively from Aldi stores nationwide on 9th August, with Medion declining to send out review samples due to its limited period of availability. Impressively, though, the P6620 comes with a three-year warranty.
It has a 16in widescreen, with a 16:9 aspect ratio and HD-capable resolution of 1,366x768. It's powered by a 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 processor, a fast chip that we only usually see on laptops costing at least £100 more than this one. There's also 4GB of RAM and a 320GB hard disk.
In addition, there's a dedicated graphics chipset, the Nvidia GeForce GT220M. This is so new, it's not even listed on Nvidia's website. We've done some digging and it looks to be a mid-range graphics chipset, and should be capable of playing modern action games, albeit at reduced resolutions and detail settings. Still it's an impressive inclusion on a laptop at this price.
There's all the ports we'd expect and Draft-N wireless too. It comes with Windows Vista Home Premium, but a free upgrade to Windows 7 is also provided. It's impossible for us to fully recommend a laptop we haven't seen - as the display or keyboard may be a serious disappointment. But based on the specification, price and warranty it's well worth a trip to Aldi to check it out in the flesh.
