Our Rating
Performance in our speed tests was very impressive considering the price of this machine. To aid the Pentium 233MMX processor, Fujitsu fitted 512K pipeline burst cache on its motherboard (Pentium II chips have theirs built in to the processor). The graphics chip and disk also performed well, giving an overall score of 711.
When it comes to sheer value there's nothing to beat the Fujitsu. When this notebook arrived at the Computer Buyer offices, we couldn't believe it offered so much for so little money - we thought we'd been sent the wrong model.
But no - for just £893 (£1,049) you get a TFT screen, Pentium 233MMX processor, 32Mb of RAM and a software bundle that includes Works 4.5 and Word 97. The Fujitsu's performance and battery life were also above average. Critical types might grumble at the lack of a modem, but you can add one for as little as £69 (£81).
We have no hesitation in awarding the Fujitsu a place among our Top 50 Best Buys.
