Asus K55VD review

The K55VD comes with a 500GB hard drive, which should be enough for most people’s files and is pretty typical at this price. If you do want to add extra storage, there are three USB ports to extend your storage capacity; we were pleased to see that two of them were the faster USB3 type. Rounding out the laptop’s connections are VGA and HDMI ports for connecting to an external monitor, a Gigabit Ethernet port and Bluetooth support. The size of the case means that there’s even enough room for a DVD drive, which is an increasingly rare site in modern laptops, but still a potentially useful device.

The Asus K55VD may not be the fastest budget laptop we’ve seen, but it’s quick enough and has many other strengths, from capable graphics for the price to a decent keyboard, screen and touchpad. It’s an excellent all-round package for less than £450, and wins a Budget Buy award.
