Next, we turned our attention to the C510's battery life. In our exhaustive battery life test, the Voyager C510 lasted for 1 hr 41mins - in normal use, you could expect much longer. This is enough to make the Evesham useful for reasonable periods away from a wall socket.
The Evesham is also equipped with an array of well-placed connectors and extra features. Round the back, for example, are four USB 2 ports, a modem connector and an Ethernet network port. There's also an S-Video connector for linking the machine to your TV, as well as a VGA monitor connector. Along the left-hand side, you'll find another USB 2 port, a mini-FireWire connection, plus headphone and microphone sockets. Putting these within easy reach is an excellent design touch, as it means you won't have to turn the laptop round to connect things. Full marks for common sense.
So, is the Evesham C510 a good buy? After spending some time living with and using the notebook, we'd have to say yes. The C510 is an excellent machine that offers speed, excellent battery life, sensible design and well thought-out ergonomics. Its crowning glory is, however, its price -£1,065. We guess we'll let it off for being grey...
