Battery Life Notebook Activator review

Verdict:

Review Date: 17 May 2005

Price when reviewed: (around £26)

Reviewed By: David Ludlow

Our Rating 1 stars out of 5

BatteryLife's Notebook Activator is a thin foil that claims to improve the life of any li-ion battery by up to 40 per cent.

We were told that the "precise mechanism or operation is not understood", while the website contains a lot of technical information that doesn't clarify things.

The product is supposed to work best on batteries with around 50 per cent of their original capacity, so we attached it to an old IBM ThinkPad. After 10 charges with no improvement we were told it doesn't work well with IBM batteries as they're double-insulated.

It also didn't work on another notebook we had in our lab. Perhaps we were unlucky with our choice of notebook, but we can't recommend it based on our tests.
