Toshiba Satellite Pro U200 review
Verdict:
Toshiba's Satellite Pro is a great notebook with a great battery life, a solid case, a fingerprint reader and lots of power in Windows applications. The keyboard isn't perfect, though, so if you do need to type long documents we'd recommend Asus's W5F-G001P instead

Toshiba's Satellite Pro has been well designed for use on the move. It has a great display and some clever features for extra security.
FEATURES
The Satellite Pro's 1.9kg chassis is incredibly tough and doesn't flex at all under pressure. It has a small fingerprint scanner, allowing you to secure your data without remembering numerous passwords. Windows XP Professional Edition is installed as standard. It also has an 80GB hard disk and a two-layer DVD writer.
The Satellite Pro's display is the best in this group. It's not the brightest we've seen, but it excelled in our white screen test, producing a good clear white across the entire display. Colours were accurately re-created and there was no graininess.
The keyboard is spacious, but the keys lack depth so typing may be tiring over long periods, though it's fine for the odd email. The touch pad is small but it's accurate and its buttons have just enough feedback.
PERFORMANCE
The Satellite Pro performed well in our application benchmarks thanks to its fast Core Duo T2400 processor and 1GB of RAM. Its overall score of 130 puts it in second place, just behind the Hi-Grade Notino.
The Satellite Pro's battery lasted four hours and 45 minutes in our light-usage test. This was bettered only by Sony's Vaio when running in its special stamina mode. This score is particularly impressive given that, unlike some notebooks here, the Satellite's battery does not protrude from the back of the chassis.
