Eminent hdMEDIA RT hits UK
Posted on 28 Apr 2010 at 12:21
PC accessory manufacturer Eminent has announced the UK availability of its EM7080 hdMEDIA RT high-definition media player.
Designed to connect to a HDTV via a HDMI 1.3 cable, the hdMEDIA RT acts as a centralised storage system for video content which it is then able to play back in full HD 1080p on a compatible display. With support for the most popular video formats - including the MKV video container and H.264 codec - it's more than likely to play back your content without problem.
The hdMEDIA RT is also designed to connect to a wired home network - with wireless available as an optional extra - in order to stream content from your home PC via the UPnP or DLNA standards, promising full compatibility with the Windows Media Player video sharing capabilities. Once connected, the device will also connect to the Internet and download RSS feeds - allowing videos and podcasts to be downloaded automatically as soon as a new episode is available.
As well as video, the device supports the playback of music and photos on a connected display.
While the device is designed to be an all-in-one solution for your video playback needs - even going so far as to include an in-built BitTorrent client - it does come in kit form, requiring the buyer to supply a compatible SATA hard drive in order to store their files.
The Eminent hdMEDIA RT is available now, at the slightly odd recommended retail price of £129.32.
