The Cherry MW 2300 is an infrared wireless mouse with a symmetrical design. This means it’s reasonably comfortable for both left and right-handed users. The browser back and forward buttons are located on the left recess, so if you’re left-handed you’ll be operating these with your ring finger, which is a bit awkward. The mouse is otherwise small and light, and fit comfortably in our hands.

The mouse has an understated black and grey design with no fancy embellishments or bright LEDs to distract you. The left and right mouse buttons have a slightly rubberised texture that gives your fingers firm purchase. Just below the scroll wheel are toggle buttons to adjust between the MW 2300’s 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000dpi settings. Different settings suit different tasks; we prefer higher dpi for certain first-person games, and a lower setting for general Desktop use. Having a switch means it’s easy to find a setting that is comfortable to use and swap whenever you like.

The MW 2300 connects to your computer or laptop with a USB receiver, and we had no problems with connectivity even as far as 10m away. The tiny receiver is small enough to be able to leave in a laptop and forget about, which is handy. There’s also a small hole in the bottom of the mouse to store it.

The MW 2300 was a pleasure to use. The buttons were responsive, with left and right clicks never failing to register. The browser back and forward buttons were also useful. The scroll wheel has a smooth action with distinct ridges helping with accurate scrolling.

We were impressed with the Cherry MW 2300. It’s a no-nonsense wireless mouse at a good price, and we liked being able to change its dpi setting quickly to suit the task at hand. If you’re after a wireless mouse for general Desktop use and occasional gaming, it’s a good buy.
