Disney unveils Mickey Mouse Android phone

The first images of an upcoming Disney smartphone have appeared, with the famous silhouette of Mickey Mouse now acting as an Android widget.
The company has been rumoured to be dipping its animated toes into the smartphone market for some time, but its entry is now assured thanks to an introductory page on the company's Japanese site discovered by Android Community.
The device, which runs a Disney-themed version of Google's Android 2.2, appears to be a rebranded version of the Sharp Galapagos 003SH.
As with the official Sharp handset, that means a 3.8in touch-screen display with glasses-free 3D capabilities, as found in the Nintendo 3DS handheld games console.
While not the newest version of Android, the use of 2.2 'Froyo' means that the device will support Flash - and there are hints of support for a contactless payment system, such as the near-field communications technology found in Google's own Nexus S smartphone.
The device includes Bluetooth, 3G, and Wi-Fi connectivity, along with integral GPS and a rear-mounted camera of unknown quality. The Disney branding extends across the whole of the device, with custom Disney-themed emoticons appearing in the messaging app, a photo editor featuring Disney characters and images, and a calendar including a new Disney illustration for each month.
Sadly for fans in the UK, like the Galapagos 003SH on which it's based, the Disney phone is slated to be a Japanese-only release at this point.
