Samsung Galaxy S II Plus rumoured

If you're considering the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone, you might want to hold off for a while: rumours suggest that a new, more powerful version is due to hit the streets in the next few months.
Designed as a pre-emptive response to Apple's as-yet unannounced iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus is believed to include a push from the current dual-core 1.2GHz Samsung Exynos application processor to a 1.4GHz model, making it the fastest Android handset on the market.
The Galaxy S II is already pretty nippy, and with third-party software has been overclocked to 1.5GHz - at which level it blazes past any other tablet or smartphone in terms of raw performance. A stock 1.4GHz option would boost the smartphone's capabilities for gaming and heavy-duty processing, but would likely make little difference to day-to-day use.
The purported upgrade is also said to come with Android 2.3.4 'Gingerbread,' and Samsung's own TouchWiz user interface. So far, there's no hint that any other specifications will change: the display is thought to remain at 800x480 using Samsung's Super AMOLED Plus technology, and the memory will stay at 1GB.
As with the current Galaxy S II, the Plus model will likely be available in 16GB and 32GB capacities. Samsung, sadly, is not confirming or denying the rumours yet, but our advice would be to wait and see what the next few months bring before splashing out on a new handset.
