ROK Mobile launch UK’s first phone & music streaming package

ROK Mobile music streaming service

ROK Mobile offers built in music streaming along with 4GB of data on the UK's first phone and music streaming package

Amazon might be the latest big name to get into the music streaming business, but now SIM-only service ROK Mobile is getting in on the action as well with its launch of the UK’s first ever phone and music streaming package for on the move audiophiles.

ROK Mobile, which piggy-backs off Three, will offer UK customers music streaming, unlimited calls and texts and 4GB of data each month. The music service is completely ad-free, too, so you needn’t worry about any interruptions during your morning commute.

What’s the best music streaming service? We put all the big names head to head

With a library of over 20 million songs, ROK Mobile’s music service is certainly more comprehensive than Amazon Prime Music, but it comes at a price: £24.99 per month, although that’s including the 4GB of data and unlimited calls and texts – which isn’t bad if you’re currently paying £9.99 per month for Spotify Premium, Apple Music or Google Play Music, for example, on top of your phone contract.

ROK Mobile is also making its service available on a rolling monthly basis, so you needn’t tie yourself in for the long haul if you only want to use the service for a couple of months – which will be good news for anyone tempted by Vodafone’s Spotify Red Value SIM-only pack, which lasts a full year.

To give you a small taster of the service, ROK Mobile will be offering a Test Drive package for a one-off fee of £9.99, which gives you 250 minutes, 500 texts, 500MB of data and 14 days of its music service.

To access ROK Mobile’s music streaming service, you’ll need to download the app. Here, you can search and stream any song in its catalogue, create playlists or download music for listening when you don’t have any signal. The service is powered by 7digital.

“We are very excited to be able to bring the first ever phone and music streaming package to the UK,” said James Kendrick, Director at ROK Mobile. “ROK Mobile gives consumers all the benefits of a long term phone contract without all of the long term ties. The music service has a catalogue of over 20 million tracks that features the world’s best music from major and independent labels. ROK Mobile delivers the best possible mobile and music experience.”
