iPhone heads for Spain and Japan

Apple has tied up two more iPhone distribution deals, according to mobile operators in Spain and Japan.
O2's parent company Telef?a said that it had secured the rights in Spain, until now the largest European country without an iPhone carrier. The company has 23 million subscribers in its home country, making it the biggest mobile carrier by far.
Japan's iPhone will be supported by the country's third largest operator, Softbank, which said that it expects to introduce the Apple smartphone before the end of the year.
Softbank spokesman Fumihiro Ito said he did not have further details on the deal, nor would he say whether the company would be the exclusive provider of the phones in Japan. DoCoMo had been expected to carry the phone, but a spokesman for Japan's leading carrier declined to say if it had also signed an agreement with Apple.
