Carphone Warehouse has become the first retailer in the UK to offer the 8GB iPhone 3G in white. The retailer will be stocking the handset from tomorrow, weeks ahead of Apples' UK network partner O2.
Until now, the iPhone bathed in the traditional white of Apple, has only been available in the UK its 16GB version. Even then, the customers have only been able to get the phone from Apple's own retail outlet.
The Carphone Warehouse is expected to sell the gadget at the same price as the black version; with the 8GB version free on £45 tariffs or £99 on £30 tariffs, and the 16GB version £59 on £45 tariffs and £159 on £30 tariffs.
However, the phone is only available on O2's network, who currently do not have the rights to sell the white handset in their own stores.
Meanwhile, both O2 and Carphone Warehouse have announced the iPhone will soon be available on pay as you go. Although neither has divulged prices, rumours suggest the 8GB versio will be on offer for around £300, and the £16GB available for around £360.
