Palm Pre to launch in UK next week

Palm will release its all-new Pre handset in the UK next week in conjunction with O2 and Carphone Warehouse.
The deal looks like it very much mirrors Apple's iPhone deal, with O2 obtaining the exclusive carrier rights and Carphone Warehouse also selling the handset.
The Pre was released in the US market on the Sprint network and has sold pretty well in its first few weeks - reports suggest Palm moved at least 300,000 handsets in the first few weeks it was on sale across the pond.
It features a slide out QWERTY keyboard and a 3.1in multi-touch display, along with HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera and 8GB of storage.
Thanks to its innovative user interface, the Pre also supports multi-tasking - something still absent from Apple's iPhone. It achieves this using a 'card' based UI which prevents you from pushing the device beyond its limits.
Sadly, there are downsides - there are reports that the device feels a little cheap in comparison to its fruity competitor; it also lacks a memory card expansion slot, Flash web browsing and video recording capabilities.
Official details and tariffs will be released next week.
