Palm propels Prē to UK
Posted on 3 Jul 2009 at 10:25
Palm will launch its new Prē smartphone in the UK at event next week.
In a deal similar to that which Apple struck for the iPhone, Palm has given O2 the exclusive carrier rights with Carphone Warehouse also selling the handset.
The phone was released in the US market at the beginning of June and reports suggest Palm moved at least 300,000 handsets and seen over a million downloads from its app store.
Reviews have generally been very positive, citing its innovative interface based on the new WebOS operating system developed under the stewardship of former Apple iPod boss, Jon Rubinstein.
However the build-quality has been less well received, with complaints that it feels cheap compared to the iPhone.
