T-Mobile and Orange merger deal finalised

Deutcshe Telekom and France Telecom have signed a final agreement for the merger of T-Mobile and Orange in the UK.
After a process of due diligence, the two companies have confirmed that they plan to go ahead with the merger. It's now hoped that the combined company will come into effect in the first half of 2010. This is assuming that the boards of both companies ratify the agreement.
From a consumer point of view it's hoped that the merger will increase the quality of service received, as the merger of the telephone network should improve reception throughout the company.
It's also hoped that it will create a more competitive mobile company with better phone deals.
However, the opposite could be just as true. Currently T-Mobile has one of the most generous data plans, while Orange has one of the meanest, even limiting iPhone users to just 750MB of data per month.
