Our Rating
The newly released Second Edition of Windows Mobile for Pocket PC 2003 supports higher-resolution screens than the current 240x320 pixels and can switch to landscape viewing format.
Publishers are reworking software to take advantage of this, and new hardware should be interesting to see. In the meantime, higher screen resolutions and the landscape data format are available to older machines with the help of Nyditot Virtual Display.
This clever utility lets you choose from a whole range of resolutions, then either pan around or view everything squeezed into the standard screen space. I use Nyditot Virtual Display regularly but selectively. At higher resolutions it is impossible to read anything shrunk to fit the screen, but lower ones can make text more readable. My main use is reading spreadsheet data in landscape format, and Nyditot Virtual Display earns its keep for performing this display tweak alone.
