Acer launches new 27in LED monitor: S273HL

Acer has expanded its S3 monitor range with the new S273HL, the "epitome of sophisticated design and top-notch performance". It's a 27in display that's just 21mm thick and has twin HDMI inputs.
Disappointingly, for a high-end monitor costing around £400, the resolution is only 1,920x1,080, so there's no benefit in terms of desktop real-estate, compared with most 22in monitors. However, apart from the huge increase in actual size, the S273HL also has a distinctive asymmetrical design.
Acer says the monitor has a "green heart", which essentially means it has an LED backlight. The firm says it uses up to 63 per cent less power than a traditional CCFL backlight - we'll test this claim when the S273HL arrives in our Labs.
There's good news for discerning buyers, too: the S273HL is covered by the Zero bright dot pixel policy for a defect-free display. The monitor should be available to buy imminently for around £400 including VAT. It's a lot, but if thinness and a top-quality finish are what you're after, it could be just the ticket.
