BenQ adds five new LED monitors to its 'V' range

BenQ is leading the LED charge by bolstering its V range of monitors with an extra five models. They range from 18.5in to 24in, and all bar the smallest have 1,920x1,080 resolutions. Judging by the photos, they look stylish yet their prices are well below those of its competitors.
The V902 is the baby of the range, but it's also the thinnest at just 14mm and is expected to cost under £110. It has a resolution of 1,366x768 and DVI and VGA inputs. Next is the V2220, the 22in model at £160. It's joined by an identical 22in monitor which adds an HDMI input and a headphone output to the DVI and VGA inputs for £30 more.
Finally, a pair of 24in models - V2420 and V2420H - complete the range. These will cost £191 and £215 respectively, and the only difference is that - again - the H model has HDMI and headphone ports.
BenQ claims that these LED monitors deliver the best dynamic contrast yet, at 10,000,000:1. We're never convinced by such outrageous claims, but with LED backlighting and local dimming, such figures are starting to become a little more believable. BenQ hasn't said whether the new models have local dimming, but we're assuming that the incredible thinness means these are edge-lit, rather than back-lit. We'll have to wait until they arrive in our Labs before we can judge image quality, though.
