The is the cheapest motherboard in the group to use Intel's 965 chipset. Nonetheless, it has a more comprehensive BIOS than ECS's PX1 Extreme.

Intel's 965 chipset doesn't have built-in support for parallel ATA drives, so all the 965 boards have separate controllers for PATA devices such as DVD writers. This means there is often a spare SATA II port away from the main SATA II block, provided by the second controller. Because of this, the P965 Platinum supports a second RAID array of one SATA II and one PATA drive, as well as the six SATA II drives provided for by the 965 chipset. There's also a FireWire socket on the back panel.

The Platinum's 2D and 3D performance are almost identical to the other 965 boards and better than the two 975-based models. As the cheapest full-sized Socket LGA775 board and one of the fastest, it's the obvious Best Buy.
